I don’t want a detailed textbook or a New Age westernized ripoff of this school of Buddhism. Something with a focus on koans and the basic mindset of meditation would be great.

If you are a skeptic and are more rational and logical and are having issues with depression, etc and wish to be more happy and optimistic in the midst of life’s day to day challenges and emotional turmoil, which is the easiest and most effective path to take? Nichiren Buddhism or Zen Buddhism? Please, serious answers that only pertain to the question.

Ok i dont know if that makes sense but maybe for example like zen buddhism has affected its culture cause now they do meditation and that is what they brought. ya know. kinda makes sense i think. i dont it came to mind to day in a discussion between me and a few friends. hope you cna help.

I’m not a Buddhist, idon’t belong to any particular religion but i like Zen and dzogchen Buddhism a lot.
BTW, could Buddism be categorized as religion or is it more of a method, a system, philosophy?
