What are the main differences in the seperate traditions of Buddhism, ie Theravadin, Mahayana, Tibeten, etc. Is Zen a completely different religion, or is it also a type of tradition? All I know is it’s mostly practiced in Japan.

Does it make you think they’re trying too hard? They were members of Shinto/Zen/Hinduism/Buddhism before, and bam, 2 months after immigration they’re some sect of christianity or the other.
Are we really a culture melting pot? Or are we pressuring these people to change?

For example Zen, Tibetan, Theravada, etc. Which one have you found to be the best for you in your spiritual journey? I’m a 16 year old and I want to be a Buddhist, but I’m not sure which one yet. I’m leaning towards Tibetan.

I recently switched from being a devout Christian of over 15 years to Zen Buddhism. What do Christians, atheists and everyone else think of Buddhism?

Materialistically speaking?
If so, what kind of implications would this type of philosophy have on poor populations in Asia (i.e. farmers)?
Also, did you know that Zen Buddhism influenced extremely brutal and suicidal Samurai ethics?
(I just noticed that nearly everybody here is focus on criticizing Christianity and Islam (sometimes). All the other religions get a free ride. I jus twant to add something new to the mix.)
