Koans are an innovation that weren’t used by Buddha, but I feel they’re an effective means bringing your mind to nothingness but completeness at the same time
What are the equivalents of koans/that feeling koans produce in Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism? As I focus on Theravada, sometimes I read a sutta in the tipitaka and by rational analysis I get the same kind of feeling as comes from koans, but it’s based on constructing complex reason rather than eliminating all construction like in zen.
