The Buddha taught that if we cling to “name and form,” we’ll only get suffering.
Since most Zen practitioners of my acquaintance tend to follow the Buddha’s good advice, the use of the word “Zen” to describe bedroom furnishings, states of mind, candies, beer, condoms, automobiles and music players doesn’t cause much concern.
Kinda wonderful, I think. It shows that Buddhism is slowly creeping into Western culture in ways that most people won’t notice. (I wonder if the word “Christian” was used similarly in Europe about 1,500 years ago to describe liquor, battering rams, plows, donkeys, and other everyday objects?)

Wouldn’t being bothered by something like that involved being too attached to the concepts?
:)
I’m sure it’s fine, every now and zen.

If they are zen, then they really aren’t attached to the name zen at all, are they?

I thought zen by definition is out of context

I don’t imagine they lose a lot of sleep over it, no. )O(
