Today we visited Eiheiji Temple, a practicing Zen temple that is open to the public. It was founded by Dogen Zenji, a monk who went to China and brought Zen Buddhism back to Japan, about 1500 years ago. It was amazing….

i have a extreme vivid imagination i keep in check through meditation.

otherwise if i " let go " or had " no mind " i would fall into the lapse once again.

being possiably bipolar or shizoaffective i am. or have the tendancies.

Alright, now i no that i shouldn’t be “picking” a religion, but my parents are athiest and I would like to have some faith in my life. Zen is all about balance and peace (at least i think) and they have some great rules of life in which i would love to study and learn (again, at least i think). I would just like some feedback and views on the subject.

I don’t want a detailed textbook or a New Age westernized ripoff of this school of Buddhism. Something with a focus on koans and the basic mindset of meditation would be great.
